Choosing a tracker

What can a GPS tracker do for me, and why do I need one?
A GPS tracker sends your vehicle’s position to an app, so you can see where it is and where it has been. With our service you get a live map, route history with playback, trip reports as PDF, and alerts that you set up yourself, for example for speeding, ignition or idling. You can use it for a car, a motorcycle, a boat or a trailer, or for a whole fleet. See how it works and the features.
Which tracker should I choose for my car, motorcycle, van, truck, boat or trailer?
For cars, vans and trucks that have an OBD-II port, the FMC003 (4G) is the simplest choice because you just plug it in. If you prefer a wired connection, or your vehicle has no suitable OBD port, the FMC920 is a small wired tracker that suits cars and motorbikes. For boats, jet skis and trailers there is the waterproof (IP67) FMC230. For fleets of CAN-bus vehicles there is the FMC150, which reads CAN data on supported vehicles. For something with no power to connect, such as a trailer, a caravan or a bicycle, the TAT140 runs on its own battery. We also list the older 2G models FMB003, FMB920 and FMB965. Availability can change, so check the devices page, and contact us if you are not sure.
What is the difference between the trackers you sell?
They differ in how they get power and in the network they use. The plug-and-play models (FMC003 and FMB003) plug into the OBD-II port and, on supported vehicles, can also read vehicle data such as the real odometer and the fuel level. The wired models (FMC920, FMC150 and FMB920) connect to the vehicle’s power; the FMC150 also reads CAN-bus data on supported vehicles. The waterproof models (FMC230 and FMB965) are wired in too, in a sealed IP67 casing. The TAT140 needs no wiring, because it runs on its own battery. For full specifications see the devices page.
Should I choose a 4G or a 2G tracker?
The FMC models (FMC003, FMC920, FMC230 and FMC150) and the TAT140 connect over 4G (LTE Cat 1) and use 2G where there is no 4G. The FMB models (FMB003, FMB920 and FMB965) connect over 2G only. Mobile operators are gradually switching off their older networks. Greece has already switched off 3G and we cannot give you a date for the end of 2G, so we suggest a 4G tracker if you want it to keep working for years. You can still choose a 2G model if it suits you better. Contact us if you are not sure.
Does it work with any vehicle? What about 12 V and 24 V?
All our trackers that take power from the vehicle accept 10-30 V DC, so they work on both 12 V and 24 V electrical systems. The TAT140 runs on its own battery and needs no vehicle power. The OBD-II models (FMC003 and FMB003) need a vehicle with an OBD-II port. The extra data such as odometer and fuel level depends on the vehicle. If you are unsure about your vehicle, contact us and we will confirm before you pay.
Do I own the device, and can I move it to another vehicle?
Yes, you buy the device from us rather than renting it. An OBD-II tracker can simply be unplugged and plugged into another vehicle with an OBD-II port, and a battery tracker can be fixed somewhere else, while a wired device has to be installed again in the new vehicle. To have your account updated with the new vehicle, contact us.
How accurate is the position, and how often does it update?
Accuracy depends on how clear a view of the sky the tracker has. Each device page lists the accuracy from the manufacturer’s specification and the satellite systems the tracker receives (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou). We do not state a fixed update interval, so if your use depends on a specific update rate, contact us before you order. A battery tracker such as the TAT140 reports on a schedule, so it updates less often. In the app you see the latest position of your vehicle on the live map.
Does it work in garages, in tunnels or abroad?
GPS needs a view of the sky, so in underground garages and tunnels the tracker may not be able to update the position until the vehicle is out in the open again. The tracker sends its data over the mobile network, using the SIM included in your subscription, so it also needs mobile coverage. We make no promises about coverage abroad (roaming). If you regularly travel with the vehicle, contact us before you pay.
Is there a free trial or a demo?
There is no free trial, but we offer a guided live demo of the platform. You can request a demo and ask us anything about your own case. If you have questions before ordering, you can also contact us.

Ordering and delivery

How do I order?
You order by sending us a request through the contact page, telling us how many vehicles you have and which devices you need. We then confirm your order by phone or email and send you the payment details. Online card checkout is not available yet. You can see the prices on the pricing page.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery takes up to 7 business days. Orders are usually shipped after 3-4 business days, because we configure and test each device before it is sent. If you need the device by a certain date, contact us and we will tell you whether it is possible.
How much is shipping, and where do you ship?
Shipping is a flat €4.96 incl. VAT per order, and we ship within Greece only. We do not ship abroad at the moment. If you are outside Greece, please contact us before ordering.
How can I pay?
You can pay by bank transfer; we send you the payment details when we confirm your order. If you would prefer another payment method, just ask us. Online card payment on the website is not available yet.
Will I get an invoice?
Yes, we issue an invoice, in line with Greek law. Please tell us in your request whether you are ordering as an individual or as a business. If you need specific details on the invoice, include them in your request.
Can a company or VAT-registered business order, and how are prices shown?
Yes, businesses can order in the same way. Prices for individuals are shown including VAT (24%), while prices for businesses are shown excluding VAT. See the pricing page, or if you are not sure what applies to you, contact us and we will confirm before you pay.
Will the device and my account be ready when the parcel arrives?
Yes. We configure and test each device before shipping, and we prepare your account and link it to your devices. When the parcel arrives, you only need to install the device and log in to the app.
Can I order more devices later?
Yes, contact us and we will take care of the new order. We will confirm the cost before anything is charged. Your yearly price is then recalculated for the new total number of vehicles.

Installation and setup

How do I install the tracker?
It depends on the model. The OBD-II models (FMC003 and FMB003) are plug-and-play: you plug them into your vehicle’s OBD-II port, with no wiring needed. The wired models (FMC920, FMC150, FMC230, FMB920 and FMB965) are wired to the vehicle’s power. The TAT140 runs on its own battery, so you only fix it in place. If you are not sure how to wire a tracker, use an auto electrician.
Do you install the tracker for me?
No, we do not offer an installation service. You can install the OBD-II models yourself, since they simply plug into the OBD-II port, and the TAT140 only needs to be fixed in place. For the wired models we recommend an auto electrician, especially if you are not familiar with vehicle wiring. If you have questions before ordering, contact us.
Will the tracker drain my car battery?
The OBD-II trackers are designed for low power use: they have sleep modes, and the FMC003 draws less than 5 mA in deep sleep at 12 V (the FMB003 less than 7 mA). For the wired trackers, or if the vehicle stays parked for a long time or has an old battery, ask us before you order.
Where should I place the tracker in the vehicle?
Choose a spot where the tracker has as clear a view of the sky as possible and, if you wish, where it is not easily seen. OBD-II trackers sit in the OBD-II port, which is usually under the dashboard. Avoid metal covers or closed metal boxes, because they block satellite signals. For wired devices, your auto electrician can suggest a suitable spot.
Do I need to set anything up after installing it?
No, the device arrives configured and tested, and your account is already linked to it. Connect it and make sure the vehicle has power (for example, switch the ignition on), preferably outdoors. Allow a few minutes for the first position to appear in the app.
How do I know it is working, and what if nothing shows in the app?
When the tracker works, your vehicle appears with its position on the live map in the app. If nothing shows, check that the tracker has power (it is firmly connected and the vehicle is running or has the ignition on) and that the vehicle is outdoors with a view of the sky, then wait a few minutes. If it still does not appear, contact us at [email protected] or +30 210 975 0117.

Prices and billing

What is included in the price?
Every vehicle gets every feature: live map, route history with playback, real-time parameters, trip reports as PDF and alert rules you build yourself, on web, Android and iOS. The SIM card and mobile data for your trackers are included. Support is available by phone and email, in Greek and English. The price per vehicle is on the pricing page.
How is the price worked out for several vehicles?
The price is per vehicle and graduated: each vehicle costs what its band says, and the later vehicles cost less than the first ones. Adding a vehicle never makes the others dearer. The calculator on the pricing page shows your total, and what one more vehicle would add, before you ask us for anything.
Is the subscription billed monthly or yearly, and is VAT included?
The subscription is yearly: it lasts 12 months and is paid once, up front. Prices for individuals are shown including VAT (24%). For businesses we show prices excluding VAT, and VAT is added on the invoice. Devices and shipping are separate lines on the same order.
What if I have more than 60 vehicles?
Contact us and we will price your fleet for you. The calculator covers up to 60 vehicles; for larger fleets we quote individually.
Can I add a vehicle during the year?
Yes. Contact us and we will tell you the cost for the rest of your year before anything is charged. You will need a device for the new vehicle, and your price is recalculated for the new total number of vehicles.
Can I track fewer vehicles?
Yes, ask us before you renew. Fewer vehicles take effect at your next renewal, and the price is recalculated for the new number.
Does the subscription renew automatically?
No, the subscription does not renew automatically. Before it expires we email you a reminder, and the subscription renews when you pay the renewal invoice. If you do not want to renew, you do not need to do anything.
What happens if I do not renew?
When your subscription ends (after a short grace period), your devices are paused and new data is no longer recorded. Your account and existing data are kept for a limited period, set out in the terms, so you can come back.
Are there any hidden fees, and can the price change?
There are no hidden fees: you pay for the subscription, your devices and shipping, plus VAT where it applies. An auto electrician who wires a tracker charges for their own work. Price changes apply only to a new term, and we notify you in advance, so you can decide not to renew.

The app and your data

Where do I log in?
You can log in on the web app at avstelematics.app, with the Android app from Google Play or with the iOS app from the App Store. All of them give you access to your account. See the app page.
How do I get an account?
We create your account for you; there is no self-signup yet. Before we ship your devices, we set the account up and link your devices to it, so you see your vehicles as soon as you log in. If you have any trouble logging in for the first time, contact us.
Can several people use the same account?
Yes, we can add more users to your account on request. Contact us and tell us who you would like to add. What each user can see depends on their role and permissions. For now, users are added by us, not from within the app.
What can I see in the app?
You see all your vehicles on a live map with their status, and you can replay the route history of any vehicle for a period you choose. For each point you see the address, speed, altitude, course, satellites and time. The real-time parameters view shows live charts of values such as engine speed, coolant temperature, fuel level and odometer, where the vehicle supports them. Trip reports are available on screen and as PDF. See the features page.
How do alerts work?
You create your own alert rules in the app, for example for speeding, ignition or idling. When a rule triggers, the alert appears in the alerts list in the app. Alerts such as power cut, towing, crash, harsh driving and after-hours depend on events the tracker is configured to send. We do not offer alerts by SMS or email at the moment, so if that matters to you, ask us before you order.
How far back can I see my history, and can I export my data?
You can see the route history of any vehicle for the period you choose, and export trip reports as PDF. How far back the history goes depends on your account, so ask us if you need a specific period. For other export needs, contact us.
Who can see the location data of my vehicles?
Only the users of your account can see your vehicles’ data, and AVS Telematics staff when that is needed to support you. What each user sees depends on their role. We do not sell personal data. For details see the app privacy notice and the privacy policy.
Do I have to tell my drivers or employees that the vehicles are tracked?
Yes. As the customer, you are responsible for informing your drivers and employees and for complying with data protection law, because the position of a vehicle can relate to a person. If you are not sure what is required in your case, ask your lawyer or data protection adviser. See the terms and the app privacy notice.

Support and troubleshooting

How can I contact you?
You can email us at [email protected] or call +30 210 975 0117. We support customers in Greek and English, by phone and email. You can also send a request from the contact page.
My tracker has stopped reporting. What should I do?
Start with the basics: check that the tracker has power (an OBD-II tracker is firmly in its port, or a wired tracker is still connected, for example after work on the battery), that the vehicle is outdoors and not in a garage or tunnel, and that your subscription has not expired. Then wait a few minutes. If the position still does not update, contact us at [email protected] or +30 210 975 0117 and tell us which vehicle and device it is. A battery tracker such as the TAT140 reports on a schedule, so its position can be older than for a wired tracker; that is normal.
I forgot my password or cannot log in. What now?
Contact us and we will reset your password for you. Write to [email protected] or call +30 210 975 0117, and tell us which account it is.
How do I change the vehicle a device is used in, or rename a vehicle?
Contact us at [email protected] or +30 210 975 0117 and tell us which device or vehicle is affected and what details or name it should have. We will update your account. If you move a tracker to another vehicle, it of course also has to be installed in that vehicle.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You do not need to cancel anything: the subscription does not renew automatically, so if you do not pay the renewal invoice, it simply ends when its term ends. After that (and a short grace period) your devices are paused and new data is no longer recorded. If you have a special case, contact us.
How do I report a problem with my order?
Contact us as soon as possible at [email protected] or +30 210 975 0117 and tell us what happened, for example a missing item or a damaged parcel. Give us your name and the order details and, if something is damaged, send a photo. We will help you find a solution. For defective or damaged devices, see also the returns page.
What happens during maintenance or downtime?
Planned maintenance that may cause downtime is announced to you by email in advance, and we schedule it when it affects the fewest customers. Emergency repairs or security fixes can happen immediately, so we cannot always warn you beforehand.

Returns, withdrawal and warranty

Can I return the device?
Yes, if you are a consumer you have a statutory right of withdrawal within 14 days. Contact us and we will guide you; the conditions and steps are on the returns page. Business customers do not have a statutory right of withdrawal.
Who pays for return shipping?
If you withdraw from your purchase as a consumer, you pay the return shipping. If the device is defective, you do not pay for its return shipping. Please contact us first, so we can tell you how to send it.
What if the device is defective or arrives damaged?
Contact us as soon as possible at [email protected] or +30 210 975 0117. As a consumer you are covered by the 2-year legal guarantee under Greek consumer law, and we will arrange a replacement or repair. If the parcel is visibly damaged, take photos of the packaging and the device. If you are a business, contact us and we will look at your case.
Do businesses have a right of withdrawal?
No, business customers do not have a statutory right of withdrawal. If you have a problem with your order, contact us and we will look at your case. See also the terms.
What happens to my subscription if I withdraw?
The subscription service starts only at your express request. If you withdraw after it has started, you pay proportionately for the service you have used. You will find more on the returns page and in the terms.
